Free Claude skill
On-brand artifacts
Before you start
- You need a paid Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise).
- Turn on code execution: in Claude, go to Settings → Capabilities and turn on Code execution and file creation. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner may need to turn on skills in admin settings first.
- Who should install it first: The person who owns the brand's look, usually someone in marketing or design. Teammates don't need to run setup. They just need the design system file it creates.
Step 1: Upload the skill
- Use the original ZIP file you downloaded. Upload the ZIP itself, not an unzipped folder.
- In Claude, open Customize → Skills (in some versions, it's under Settings → Capabilities).
- Click + or Upload skill, and select this ZIP file.
- Make sure the skill is turned on.
Skills you upload are private to your account, so each teammate who wants to use it uploads it too. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner can add it for the whole organization instead.
Step 2: Run setup right away
This skill works best when it's tailored to your team, so it starts with a short setup. Open a new chat (or a Claude project your team uses for this work) and paste this prompt:
Let's set up on-brand artifacts for my team.
Claude will ask questions two or three at a time, so it never feels like a long form. Setup takes about 15 minutes, and you'll only do it once. It covers:
- Who will build with it, what they'll make most often, and who will see it.
- What should still go to design or marketing for review, and who to contact.
- Whether you have a brand guide or design file. If you do, Claude reads it and only asks about the gaps. If not, it asks about your colors, fonts, and overall feel, offering choices if you don't know the technical details.
- Your website and logo files. At the end, Claude builds a small sample so you can confirm it looks like your brand.
If you're not sure about an answer, say so. Claude will suggest options or use a sensible default.
Step 3: Save your setup file
At the end, Claude gives you a file called design-system.md with everything you told it. This is what makes the skill remember your team, so keep it somewhere it will load every time:
- Best option: create a Claude project (for example, "Brand design"), add the file to the project's files, and use the skill inside that project. Share the project with your team so everyone gets the same setup.
- Otherwise: upload the file at the start of any new chat where you use the skill.
To change your setup later, upload the file and say "update my setup."
Step 4: Use it
After setup, Claude shows you a short how-to guide. You don't need to name the skill. Ask for what you need and Claude uses it automatically. For example:
- "Make a one-pager for prospects comparing our two plans. Here's the pricing: …"
- "Build an event page for our June partner dinner in Austin."
- "Turn this spreadsheet into a simple report page for the leadership meeting."
Claude asks for anything it's missing before it writes or builds, and it never sends, publishes, or changes anything in your tools unless you ask.
